OVERVIEW
Our client is a multinational setting up their worldwide IT hub in Dublin. We are looking to hire a number of Solutions Architects to complete build out of the Solution Architecture Practice. The company is looking for Architects who have experience and are established in their careers, looking for stability, but still open to new ideas. They are looking for individuals who want to create process and fix issues. The candidate must be eligible to work in Ireland/EU.
ROLE
The Solution Architect is the technical glue that holds the project together. He/she provides the technical goals, the vision and the design for each solution, working directly with the business from project inception to support handover to ensure that business problems are solved and not augmented by the project.
The architect guides and mentors the technical staff, making decisions and removing technical blockers. He/she works with their project management partner, to anticipate, circumvent and solve technical project shortfalls. The first line of defence against the unpredictability of software development, they must be creative, resourceful and able to work at any technical level to solve problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the business to define, design and estimate solutions. Design, document and present application architecture. Maintain both incremental and master design documentation. Guide development teams, conduct code and design reviews. Work with DevOps to oversee unit testing and build reporting. Enforce technical standards for design, code and unit testing. Participate in daily stand-ups, make technical decisions and clear technical road blocks.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Define architecture patterns, framework and standards definition. Participate in Demand Management Activities, Architecture Boards for reviewing project designs and approving new technologies. Perform Proof of Concept work on new technology. Identify refactoring and consolidation opportunities.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years practical experience in enterprise/solution architecture and 5+ years of direct business interaction in designing technical solutions
Knowledge of a modern JavaScript framework: Backbone.js/Angular.js/Node.js/Ember.js.
Knowledge of a non-mainstream language: Scala, R, LISP, Assembly, Objective C, Clojure, etc.
Fluency in a scripting language: Perl, Python, Ruby, Powershell, Ksh, Bash, etc.
Knowledge of configuration management tools: Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt.
Fluency in Continuous Integration principles and tools: Hudson, Jenkins, Bamboo, TFS, etc.
Strong understanding of web architecture.
Strong data modeling skills.
Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, Application Lifecycle Management
Fluency in web servers, app servers, relational databases.
Fluency in servers, networking and Windows/Unix/Linux at a power user level.
Very strong documentation skills (deftness in writing is a good indicator)
DESIRABLE SKILLS
TOGAF certification
Knowledge of Analytics and Big Data
Knowledge of columnar/no SQL databases (Cassandra is worth extra points).
Certification or actual work experience in an agile methodology environment: Scrum, Kanban, AUP, DSDM, etc.
Experience in giving technical direction to and monitoring the work of a remote development team
